2007 P & D Mint Thomas Jefferson Dollar Coins Grade: First Day Issue
Four Presidential $1 Coins per year will be issued, and each will have a reverse design featuring Lady Liberty. These coins will feature large, dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions. The inscriptions will include the year of minting or issuance, "E Pluribus Unum", "In God We Trust" and the mint mark. These gold $1 coins herald our nation's third President, Thomas Jefferson, who served from 1801-1809. These coins were obtained from the P &D Mints on the first day of issuance and are rated "Brilliant Uncirculated" by NGC. They are each presented in the innovative EdgeView Holder. This holder, which makes edge-incused inscriptions easily viewable, is only available for the $1 Presidential coin series. All information pertaining to the coin, including its rating and identification number, both assigned by NGC, is contained in a unique bar code that appears underneath the written text of the coin's label.About the EdgeView Holder:Introduced in 2005, the EdgeView? Holder suspends a coin within evenly spaced prongs. Four cut-away windows encircle the coin and give an unobstructed view of the coins edge. This makes the EdgeView? Holder ideal for the $1 Presidential coins. The edge-incused inscriptions that are featured on the $1 Presidential coin series, which include important information such as date and mint mark, are always visible.Examining a Coins Edge Within the EdgeView? Holder:It's easy to examine the edge of a coin suspended in an EdgeView? Holder. The EdgeView should be held upright and angled toward the viewer. A light source behind the coin illuminates the edge. Edge inscriptions and details are clearly visible while looking straight at the coins edge from this angle.About Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC):NGC was founded in 1987, and for coin grading, its opening heralded the introduction of a new standard of integrity.
